Thought-Lock

Thought-Lock // booklet // a personal reflection on the artwork 'Vending Systems' by Karl Philips

 

The artwork consists of three snack and drink vending machines in a metal cage. On top of the machines lies a single mattress, while someone could lie down, confined and at the same time protected by the cage. Through the similarities in the proportions of the utensils, Philips plays out the contrast between the human body and the hard, machine objects. He zoomed in on the difference between the noble service of providing food and the underlying economic principles.
